The Greeks consulted oracles, Victorian photographers wrestled with wooden contraptions heavy enough to herniate a mule, and through it all, this humble triangle of stability said nothing, just planted itself and waited for us to stop shaking.

Wars came, broadcasts flickered to life, films rolled, and the tripod grew telescoping legs like a teenager shooting up in summer, sprouted fluid heads that moved like honey, watched its flashier cousins, the dollies, the jibs, the gimbals, dance around sets promising motion and magic.

Carbon fibre arrived to spare a few spines, electronics learned to spin and pan at the touch of a button, yet the old geared heads still sit there, rewarding anyone who remembers that patience isn't obsolete, just unfashionable.

Materials shift, trends wobble like a drunk on roller skates, but the truth remains stubborn as ever: three legs don't just hold a camera, they hold the line between what we see and what we merely glance at, teaching us that sometimes the real art isn't in moving at all, but in knowing when to stand perfectly, unshakably still.
